My Flying Machine “A Few Sandwiches Short…”

My Flying Machine is the solo project of Brandon General. On July 5th 2024, he released his second full length album called “A Few Sandwiches Short…” 

The album is a collection of raw, honest songs written at the height of a pretty intense mental breakdown. So it can be best described as a cathartic release of negative energy but with catchy, toe-tapping fun. The fun in dysfunction.

Brandon recorded all these songs alone in about a week during the 2020 lockdowns. Then his hard drive crashed and he lost all the sessions and ten years worth of other work. Taking it as a sign, he decided to throw in the towel and quit music altogether. Then a friend of his heard about the ordeal and gave recovering the drive a shot. It worked. He was able to recover about 70% of the data. So Brandon took what was left, re-recorded the missing parts and overdubbed some drums. He then challenged himself to mix the whole thing on his own with no outside help and very little experience. 

It’s an album of overcoming challenges and despite the lyrical content, an album of success, proving that even in your darkest times when all you want to do is give up, don’t. When everything seems to be against you, keeping you from the finish line, you can figure it out and get to the other end of the tunnel. So keep pushing.
