Released on October 10th via Beautiful Losers, RosGos’s new album marks a radical departure: a stripped-down avant-folk, made of voice, guitar, and silences that speak as much as the sounds themselves. A dark, stark, and intense album, it invites you to lose yourself in the void and rediscover yourself in its sonic wounds.

Behind the moniker lies Maurizio Vaiani, who, after the travel trilogy (Lost In The Desert, Circles, No Place), chooses the path of radical stripping. The change also comes from the studio work: the album was recorded in just five days in Andrea Liuzza’s home studio, immersed in the woods, with all the vocals recorded in a single take. Liuzza’s production itself leaves a new sonic imprint: keyboards and samples that don’t fill, but fragment the space; guitar noises and distortions entrusted to Massimo Valcarenghi, like sudden cracks that reveal the void.

The references remain the cursed heroes of the ’90s – Mark Lanegan and Layne Staley – but this time the album also carries the suspended fragility of Elliott Smith. No bass, except for a few distorted drones; Almost nonexistent drums, reduced to minimal electronic beats. Each song is a delicate balance between voice, guitar, and silence. The solo in In The Dark is emblematic, not a melody but a full-throated scream into the night.
