This & That Paul Woolner – Moving On

Paige Warner dropped me line about the artist Paul Woolner. He has new single “Moving On” I will touch base with her and set up an Interview.

From Page

Hi Jamie,

I hope you’ve been well and have been able to catch the Southampton Piper this summer!

I wanted to share a new song and video from Paul Woolner, an Ontario singer-songwriter I’ve been working with who I think you’ll really connect with. His new single “Moving On” comes out October 17 through The Orchard / LL Artists, and the video actually features a few shots around Hamilton and Grey/Bruce – I thought of you immediately with your ties to both areas!

Paul’s based in Beaver Valley and recorded the track with Thomas McKay. It’s got that warm, contemporary folk sound – think John Hiatt meets Bruce Cockburn – and the video really captures a sense of place that I thought would strike a chord with you.

Here’s the link to the video: https://youtu.be/bQLcuu6Quuo

I think Paul would be a great guest if you’d be interested in setting up an interview – he’s an incredible storyteller.

Chat soon,
Paige

One Sheet from Page.

Paul Woolner is an Americana/Roots Canadian singer-songwriter, weaving together
elements of folk, rock, blues, and jazz. His evocative, story-rich songwriting has drawn
comparisons to JJ Cale, Wilco, and John Hiatt.
Beginning in the late 60s, Paul’s early musical journey saw him performing in coffee
houses, stages, and theatres across Canada as a solo artist and as the
frontman/songwriter for the folk-rock band Kit Carson, sharing stages with icons like
Jerry Jeff Walker and Melanie.
Paul’s new EP entitled Memory Like Water, marks a return to his roots; a body of work
with great perspective that explores themes of change, reflection on the past, and
hopes for the future. Spare yet full-sounding arrangements are built around Paul’s
acoustic guitar and vocals, complemented by bass, drums, keys, and guest
performers, weaving texture into depth. Think John Hiatt meets Daniel Lanois.
Recorded largely at his home studio in Beaver Valley by veteran producer and multi
instrumentalist Thomas McKay (Night Crawlers, Joy Drop), the songs are warm and
rustic, immersed in both light and shadow.
Since returning to songwriting in the 2000s, Paul has performed in clubs and festivals
throughout Toronto and the Georgian Bay region, including a tour opening for Jason
Wilson and Dave Swarbick of Fairport Convention. He has independently released a
series of albums and EPs and his music has received airplay in Canada, the U.S., the
U.K., and across Europe.
Look for Paul’s new single to be released this autumn and tour announcements
coming soon!
