Jeff Butters and I chatted about the genesis of the Hamilton Poster Exhibit and the process of selection of pieces to display.
“This exhibition draws together selections from three passion-fueled and often overlapping collections to reveal a snapshot of the creative force that goes into marketing the shows, artists, and venues in Hamilton. Rather than an homage to favourite performers, for the collectors it is all about the artwork. Though designed and printed for a one-night show, hastily posted on walls and signposts, Hamilton music posters have a potent and robust blend of art and creativity.”
“The posters in this exhibition represent a very creative chapter in Hamilton’s musical story, reflecting local venues, musicians, and music genres. They are proof that Hamilton is a showcase city that is capable of hosting great national and international touring acts.
