Terra Spencer with Rory Taillon TUE APR 29, 2025 7PM DOOR, 8PM SHOW @ Millshardware
Terra Spencer
The real deal.” - Ron Sexsmith
“Friggin' wicked.” - Matt Andersen
Bad ideas, VCRs, crumbling factories, terrible therapists, hairy dogs, wrinkled shirts, French fries, questionable tattoos...all are fair game for Nova Scotian funeral director-turned-songwriter Terra Spencer. And the songs are good ones, judging from the stack of awards her three albums have received and from the caliber of collaborators like Ben Caplan, Dave Gunning, and David Francey, who welcomed Terra as a co-writer and performer on his JUNO-winning album The Breath Between. Terra has just released her fourth solo album, 'Sunset', which she will be touring across Canada in 2024/25 with her first US dates. Its dozen songs feature guests from East to West - Matt Andersen, The Bombadils, Ryan Cook, Ian Sherwood, Pillow Fite, and Stephen Fearing. Featured on the album, her duet with Stewart Legere called "Brick and Mortar" was named the winner of the Commonwealth Song Contest out of 20,000 entries. Although her butterscotch voice, deft fingerstyle guitar, and gospel-charged piano make her a formidable musician, it's her onstage ease and crackling homespun wit that make each show feel like a knee-to-knee conversation in a room of 5 or 500.

Rory Taillon
Ottawa-based singer/songwriter Rory Taillon is a road warrior, touring across the country and back again. He has the soul of the East coast but the sound of the West in his songs. His music is the work of a one man Wintersleep, a one man Tea Party, a one man Blackie & the Rodeo Kings, with a voice to match the majesty of the Rockies. Because Rory Taillon is not just an entertainer he is a performer. It’s just that simple, when Rory Taillon sings everything stops and when its starts again it’s all changed. It’s just that simple, like folk. He has charted; earshot, community radio, hitting number three on the National Folk Charts - sitting next to Buffy St. Marie. But like Buffy, Rory Taillon is no coffeehouse kat seeking accolades over lattes. He is no beatless poet. He is a classically trained singer, a multi-instrumentalist and vocally can turn his hand to a variety of genres. The acoustic is for touring, there’s only so much room in a civic for gear, merch afterall and that voice, that voice needs its own tour bus. Its a band onto itself.
