Canadian artist Ché Aimee Dorval is no stranger to bending and blending genres, fusing trip-hop, folktronica, and dream-pop with an alt-rock edge to create a sound all her own. After honing her craft in Toronto and Vancouver’s indie scenes, she began sharing her music worldwide—both as a solo artist and with prog icon Devin Townsend in Casualties of Cool. In 2023, Ché released a haunting duet with Gord Downie (The Tragically Hip) and made guest appearances on Townsend’s Lightwork, setting the stage for her third solo album, The Crowned, co-produced by Bob Rock (Metallica). Clash Magazine praised the record for “fusing pop, soul, and indie elements to produce something potent and original,” while Knotfest called the standout track “Falling Under” a “timeless earworm.” Fresh off a busy year of touring in 2024 to support The Crowned, Ché channeled her passion for alt-pop and synthwave into a new body of work that promises to push her signature sound even further. This spring, she’ll release new material that marks the next step in her ongoing evolution as an artist.

Orchidae is the solo project of Yolande Laroche, a queer Canadian Taiwanese artist based in Gatineau, Quebec. Releasing her debut solo album True Beginning with Birthday Cake Records in spring 2025, Laroche draws inspiration from her Mandarin name 兰 (Lan), symbolizing the orchid flower. The name Orchidae reflects the artist's cultural heritage and the essence of her music. With a background in classical clarinet, Laroche combines her classical training with avant-pop elements, creating a sound that is both intimate and profound. True Beginning marks the first steps of Yolande’s musical journey as a lead songwriter. Her songs are compelling explorations of self-discovery, transformation, and personal growth, traversing confident electronic pop songs to heartfelt piano ballads. Beyond her solo work, Yolande Laroche is a seasoned music educator and a versatile multi-instrumentalist, proficient in clarinet, keys, and voice. While she has played as a session musician for over a decade and is part of the art-rock band Pony Girl (Paper Bag Records), Yolande’s project Orchidae sees the artist in full bloom.
