SCM tribute to Greg Cannon.
I met Greg a handful of times over the years. It was fun to talk to him because he had this way about him that made me laugh and everyone around him. I admire people like that , they can put you at ease. He played in The Florida Razors with my buddy Tom Wilson. I wasn’t old enough to to see him play in bars or concert halls. I just played the music on vinyl and wished I could see the band. My heart goes out to friends and family of Greg’s. Its hard to lose a loved one, but you keep their memory alive with warm stories and thoughts. Special Thanks to Kathy Cannon and Joe Foster for sending me Florida Razors music.
GREGORY CANNON OBITUARY
It is with heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Gregory Michael Cannon on Saturday, April 22, 2023. Beloved husband and best friend to Joyce (Vella) and adored dad to Adam (Lauren Campbell).
Predeceased by his parents John (1980) and Gladys (2012), Greg leaves cherished memories with siblings Patti (Lee Fairbanks), Gary (Val), and Kathy (late John Ricci). Dearly loved son-in-law of Sylvia Vella (late Tony). Also missing him deeply are in-laws Lora (Doug Crellin), Carmen (John McMahon), and Tony Vella (Bev Hutchings). Greg was always the life of any family gathering and his many nieces and nephews and their families will cherish their times with crazy Uncle Greg. He is survived by many cousins and close friends he always considered family.
An East Mountain boy through and through, Greg retired from HHS after a 23-year career. He then went on to be the Administrative Coordinator for Paramed Home Health for 15 years.
Locally Greg was known for his musical ability behind the drum kit. As one of Hamilton's top drummers, he could be found "driving the bus" for The Florida Razors in the '80s.
Cremation has taken place. Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Life, to be held on Sunday, June 4th, 1-5 pm at Ye Olde Squire, 550 Fennell Ave E. (at Upper Wentworth).
