The Art Of Time - Bowmore Art Series March 16 @The Argyle
Join Bowmore and artist Laura Heaney at The Argyle, on Thursday March 16th from 6-9pm for a complimentary Bowmore scotch tasting, and art installation. The Art of Time is a sensory experience meant to share the story of tradition, craftsmanship and attention to detail. A striking concept which brings together the legacy of an iconic whisky and a glimpse into the past through classical art techniques and subjects.
What to Expect:
- Step out of the cold and into The Argyle in Hamilton’s Crown Point neighbourhood
- Guided scotch tasting by Beam Suntory's National Luxury Brand Ambassador, James Neil, featuring Bowmore 12 YO, Bowmore 15 YO, and Bowmore 18 YO
- Live drawing and art installation by artist Laura Heaney
- Signature cocktail inspired by Bowmore made by Argyle bartender Alex Drumm available at the bar
- Oyster night at The Argyle with Maisy’s Pearl
Start your evening by heading through to The Argyle’s golf bays where James Neil, Beam Suntory's National Luxury Brand Ambassador, will take you on a journey as he speaks to the unique history of the Bowmore distillery, while leading you through a scotch tasting featuring Bowmore 12 YO, Bowmore 15 YO, and Bowmore 18 YO from their Core Range Collection. Each whisky will be paired with one of Heaney’s art series, as each golf bay will act as a unique gallery experience. Laura will also be onsight drawing live, and happy to discuss how her love of the old-meets-new developed in her artistic practice, with deep roots from her visual arts education with studies in both history and art history.
Spend the rest of your evening getting cozy in The Argyle’s front room, by trying the signature Bowmore inspired cocktail that bartender Alex Drumm has curated for the event, or a plate of oysters with a Bowmore luge, from Maisy’s Pearl, surrounded by a salon of Heaney’s art.
More About Bowmore and James Neil:
The original Islay. The pioneer. Bowmore is the first licensed Islay distillery. It has stood on the shores of Lochindaal, a sea loch opening out into the wild Atlantic Ocean, since 1779. To this day, the distillery still operates in traditional ways, honouring the original whisky-making techniques. Bowmore is still hand crafted today. Time is invested at every stage. And this care and attention to detail create the unique and timeless house style of Bowmore. Unparalleled single malts that remain unimitated and age like no other on Islay.
James Neil is Beam Suntory's Luxury Brand Ambassador, which means he travels all across Canada guiding people through the histories and flavours of rich scotches like Bowmore and Laphroaig, that fall within the Beam Suntory whisky family.

More About Artist Laura Heaney:
Classically trained and based in Hamilton, Laura Heaney is a multifaceted artist equipped with a diverse skill set. She can usually be found sitting in the same position for hours while perfecting the most minute detail in a painfully crafted drawing or clad in paint-covered overalls as she enlivens a canvas with swaths of acrylic. Her themes, mediums and subject matter vary, but her works share a distinct combination of traditional techniques and subjects, often found in the Renaissance and Romantic eras, combined with more contemporary motifs and accessible materials. Laura is as likely to pick up a coloured pencil as she is a brush or a dip pen. Bolstering a visual arts education with studies in both history and art history, it is easy to see how her love of the old-meets-new developed in her artistic practice.
