First Prize
Winterbuilt Guitars
Value: $4500

Based out of the remarkable Cotton Factory artist facility here in Hamilton, ON, Chadd Kam hand builds amazing guitars. His works of art take months to create and have been on stage with some Canada’s finest musicians like The Arkells.

Chadd writes: 

“This Winter Built guitar is a 00-size body and features an Adirondack spruce top and a really beautiful back and side set of Osage Orange.  Yes, the yellow colour is the natural colour of the wood!  It can be quite hard to track down Osage Orange this nice.  Typically, it is full of splits and knots.

The body and fret board are both trimmed in holly wood which matches the headstock veneer and the custom wood pick guard.  The fretboard is made of some really beautiful Brazilian rosewood with real pearl for the fret dots.  This guitar also features a one-piece Honduras mahogany neck with a chunky C-shape neck profile that fits comfortably in the players hands.  The neck has a standard 1 3/4” nut spacing.  The tuners are some of the nicest on the market, a beautiful set of brass engraved Waverly tuners with ebony buttons!  Another great feature is the K&K pure mini acoustic pickup.  You can plug it in and the pickup shows off the crisp bass notes and sparkling highs that this guitar produces”.
