A very special acoustic evening with award winning songwriters Tami Neilson and her brother Jay Neilson. Returning home to her native Canada after touring this summer with Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan, this will be one of Tami’s first shows back in Ontario in three years. Growing up performing together in family band The Neilsons, Tami and Jay have been close collaborators, writing and touring together their entire lives. Then, 18 months ago, Jay suffered a debilitating stroke. After a long and challenging journey of learning to walk and talk and (most recently) play guitar again, this show is the first time he will return to the stage.

From Tami:

“There was a time that I honestly didn’t think we could ever do this again. What a joy it is to announce that my brother Jay and I will be doing a very small, acoustic show together in Canada. This will be Jay’s first show since his stroke, so it will be an intimate, low pressure show. The first baby step on the journey back to performing. We’ll be playing from our songbook, with two voices and two guitars, as they were written. We’ll be playing songs we wrote for my new album ‘Neon Cowgirl’. These are songs which I recorded while he was in a coma last year, with the purpose of giving him a reason to pick up his guitar again when he woke up. That time has finally come and I’m so grateful it’s here. Only a few months ago, Jay’s right hand had been paralysed since his stroke. He is now giving beginner guitar lessons, playing at church on Sunday mornings and practicing hard for this show. I am so proud of him and cannot wait to look next to me on stage, as I have most of my life, and see him there again.”
