Brooklyn-based MC Talib Kweli earned his stripes as one of the most lyrically-gifted, socially aware and politically insightful rappers to emerge in the last 20 years. “I’m a touring artist. I’m an artist that’s internationally known. I’m not just a local artist at this point in my career. I’m cognizant of the fact that what I do is beyond where it started. I’m trying to reach the apex of where I am now, but without turning my back on or dismissing what I’ve done before.” After nearly 20 years of releasing mesmerizing music, Talib Kweli stands as one of the world’s most talented and most accomplished Hip Hop artists. Whether working with Mos Def as one-half of Black Star, partnering with producer Hi-Tek for Reflection Eternal, releasing landmark solo material or collaborating with Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, Just Blaze, J Dilla, or Madlib, Kweli commands attention by delivering top-tier lyricism, crafting captivating stories and showing the ability to rhyme over virtually any type of instrumental. In 2011, Kweli founded Javotti Media, which is self-defined as “a platform for independent thinkers and doers.” Kweli has set out to make Javotti Media (which released his 2011 album, Gutter Rainbows, and is named after his paternal grandmother) into a media powerhouse that releases music, films and books.

Jelani “J Wyze” Nias is the quintessential writer and emcee, with a long and storied career in the Canadian and Caribbean music scenes. Diverse in subject matter, with a dynamic flow that he skillfully manipulates to match each rhythm, J Wyze prides himself on delivering projects that touch on every facet of life from the perspective of a born rebel with no fear of presenting himself as he truly is. Loving, fighting, laughing and reflecting are all par for the course when this wordsmith plies his craft. Once a key member of the Justos Mixtape Award winning Soul Controllers, he also has a radio background that includes 10 years as the dynamic voice of the Trauma Unit (Flow 93.5 fm) and several years on the groundbreaking Master Plan Show (CIUT, 89.5 fm). As an emcee, J Wyze has released acclaimed solo albums Proverbs and Herbs and Short Cutz to The End, spawning hits like “Mr. Lucky”, “Miss Me” and “Pedigree”. He now returns with his latest full-length project Carnival of Souls.

Eklipz isn’t just an artist; he is one of the architects of Hamilton, Ontario’s Hip Hop scene. A true pioneer, Eklipz was instrumental in building the foundation for the city’s current musical landscape, cementing his legacy long before his microphone went quiet. The driving force behind some of Hamilton’s most critical Hip Hop institutions, Eklipz created the city’s first Hip Hop clothing store, The Boom Spot; its seminal radio show, Live and Direct (CFMU 93.3) and Concrete Canvas, a festival which brought the culture to the city’s streets. His early career as a highly-respected MC was defined by his work with the dynamic group Crown A’ Thornz, who released acclaimed projects and became local legends. Thirteen years ago, Eklipz stepped away from recording and performing, leaving a void in the scene he helped create. Now, the silence is broken. Eklipz is back and ready to reclaim his place, marking his return with the upcoming EP, alignment assignment. The project is a reflection of his journey and a powerful statement of his renewed artistic purpose. The city is set to witness history repeat itself as Eklipz steps back onto the stage for his first performance in over a decade, opening for Hip Hop icon Talib Kweli. This performance is more than a comeback; it’s a testament to the enduring power of a legend whose influence continues to shape the culture.
