This & That Electric Lemonade – “You’re Watching Me”

““You’re Watching Me” is a break-up song,” says Sarah Murphy. “It’s about being ready
to move on, and about embracing who you are – even the messy bits and the mistakes
you make along the way. It was inspired by some major changes that happened in my
life. I realized I was in a pattern of allowing myself to be in situations where I couldn’t
really thrive or be myself.”

A vocal-forward track boasting interesting textures and danceable hooks, “You’re
Watching Me” is a fun summer song with lyrics that are relatable to everyone. Who
hasn’t been through a breakup or, these days, seen an ex in their list of Instagram
viewers?

“It’s got some really cool textures riding over a fun groove,” says Hannah Mazurek. “So
you can bop out and go, “Ooh, what was that noise?” at the same time. There are
surprising little sounds and colours that pop out all over this album.”
If there’s one message to take away from the new Electric Lemonade single, it’s this,
according to Sarah: “Get out of your own way. Just be you; you’re allowed to be messy
and make mistakes. Also, people can see you looking at their stories on Instagram.”
“You’re Watching Me,” the new single from Electric Lemonade, is out on July 25
on all streaming platforms

Based in Whitehorse, Yukon, Electric Lemonade is a Canadian fuzz-rock power trio
comprised of Sarah Murphy (she/her) on vocals/guitars, Hannah Mazurek (they/them) on
vocals/bass, and Rob Jones (he/him) on drums. With tunes centred around killer vocals,
huge guitar riffs and syncopated grooves, their sound swells with raucous garage rock
energy.

Electric Lemonade’s previous iteration was a folk-pop band called Vanstones, but when
two of the band members departed just before the band’s first tour, the remaining
members forged forward to salvage it. They shaped an entirely new sound to take on the
road, and thus became what is now Electric Lemonade.

Tearing through Alberta and BC, still under the Vanstones name but with the Electric
Lemonade spirit, the band captivated audiences with their high-energy performances,
impressive musicianship, and raw sound. Call it a change in musical direction, call it a
heel turn. But whatever you call it, chill out and drink the electric lemonade.
With the success of the live shows, Electric Lemonade is now releasing new music
under the new moniker and sound, with an EP planned for 2026. The latest single is
entitled “You’re Watching Me,”
