MUNESHINE is...

an emcee/producer/engineer based in Toronto, Canada;

a co-founder of Wax Reform, a collective of producers and artists from around the world;

1/2 of Twin Peaks with Ghettosocks, an emcee/producer from Halifax;
1/2 of The Residents with Saint, an emcee/producer from Long Island, NY; and
1/2 of The Birthday Boys with fellow Torontian, D-Sisive.

Every artist needs a story, at least that’s what they say. To make an impact, an artist needs to offer something inspiring, moving and out of the ordinary. Muneshine has a story to tell.

Hailing from rural Saskatchewan, Muneshine has come a long way. From first hearing hip hop music at age 9, experimenting with words and turntables in his teens, to travelling the world collaborating with legends in his field and inspiring others, Muneshine’s story is unlike any other Canadian hip hop artist.

Muneshine has found great success outside of Canada. Since 2005, Muneshine has released 3 major label projects in Japan, and contributed production and vocal appearances on countless more. All considered, his sales in this territory alone top 30,000. His first release (Phocus – A Vision and a Plan) debuted on HMV Japan’s hip hop charts at #8. Since then, Muneshine has established a strong and loyal fan-base worldwide with releases in Canada, the United States, Australia, Korea, The United Kingdom, Brazil and The Netherlands.

Not only has Muneshine released popular projects overseas, he has collaborated with a number of popular hip hop favourites, such as: Pete Rock, Sean Price, DJ Spinna, Buckwild (D.I.T.C.), Guilty Simpson, Rob Swift (of the Executioners), Edo G. and many more.

In the past few years, Muneshine has established an unstoppable working relationship with fellow-Canadian emcee/producer D-Sisive. The duo won SOCAN’s coveted Echo Songwriting award in 2009 for the song ‘Nobody With A Notepad’ taken from D-Sisive’s album ‘Let This Children Die’. The chemistry between the two is undeniable, and proven through numerous appearances at the top of Canada’s college and community radio charts, critical praise and award wins (and nominations) at the Indies, Juno Awards and the Polaris Music Prize.

An ambassador for Canadian hip hop, Muneshine has gained experience in both his own country and abroad. He has established himself as a respected artist, and continues to live his dream of creating and promoting honest and timeless music without compromise.

MILES JONES: Mojo Records & Publishing / URBNET / MB3 (Musebox/EMI)

Shortly after releasing his debut album One Chance in 2006, which served as his university thesis project, Miles Jones took the hip-hop world by storm crafting his sophomore album Runaway Jones and managed to acquire impressive features from hip-hop stars Boi-1da, Black Milk, Percee P, Slakah the BeatChild, Kae Sun, and Shad K. Along with co-executive producer and manager Marshall Tully, Jones crafted a classic boom-bap influenced hip-hop sound infused with familiar strains of house that has proved immensely agreeable: Runaway Jones charted #3 on iTunes Canada, and the “Coast to Coast” was picked up by CBS for Las vegas CSI and CTV for the 2010 Olympics broadcast. Other accolades for Runaway Jones include a 2009 Independent Music Award for “Song of The Year” and a prize for the 2010 Billboard Song Contest and two tracks that reached #2 (Time Machine) and #3 (Never Wrong) on the U.S. college Top 40 Hip Hop charts as well. This summer Miles is in the studio recording his follow-up to Runaway Jones which will be released this fall.

LEE REED:

Lee Reed is a gotDAMN monster. Stomping stages and studios, spitting truth, justice and hot globs of poetic venom in the face of the uber-market war-pig hegemon overlords and the minions of sycophants on their payroll. With a microphone, 2 turntables, a falafel sandwich and a cadre of super-elite ninja rap practitioners, Reed creates and performs hip-hop that pulls back the curtain and pisses on the power supply. A vocal documentary of our bloated, mother-earth eating culture and its rapid freefall into the gaping mouth of hell. And stuff like that.
